Yassou! Taverna!
Whether you know it or not, Greece is one of the oldest wine producing regions in the world! Evidence of wine production dates back more than 6,500 years! Since that time, wines have been shared and enjoyed not only in households, but in communal celebrations like ours. And what cultural celebration would be complete without exposure to the local libations? As part of our commitment to our heritage and our local community, you will find that we are primarily offering beers and wines that are either from Greece or Michigan. See below to find our beer and wine offerings, not to mention tasting notes on each.
Greek Red Wines
Kouros Dry Red – The wine is characterized by its fruitiness, its unique body, soft tannins, and deep red color. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 6-7 months and then bottle-aged for a further six months. The nice balance of its fruitiness and maturation properties is particularly appealing.
Kourtaki Mavrodafni - This variety is cultivated in the vineyards on the north-west facing foothills near to the town of Patras in the Peloponnese. When blended with the Korinthiaki grape and aged using the 'solera' system the result is a full-bodied wine brimming over with dried fruit flavors.
Greek White Wines
Kouros Dry White - A bright, clear, light straw color with green hues running through the glass. A delicate bouquet of lemon and tropical fruit balanced by wonderful penetrating acidity on the palate. Delicious citrusy lemon flavours abound throughout and the finish is extremely long, very stylish, and delivers a dash of lemon and just a hint of melon at the very end.
Kourtaki Retsina– A clear, pale to golden-yellow color. A delicate aroma of pine on the nose. Fresh and rich on the palate, the wine develops the characteristics of the Savatiano grape, with the development of a piney flavor at the back of the throat. A nicely balanced, delicately flavoured retsina with a clean crisp finish.
Michigan Red Wines
Forbidden Fruit Sangria - Simply delicious and refreshing drink with a great tradition, this ruby sangria is filled with aromas of fresh berry and citrus fruits. A luscious entry leads to a fruity medium body of green apple, plum, and orange zest flavors with a crisp, invigorating finish. A flashy Sangria that is sure to light up any occasion!
St. Julian Merlot - The lovely mouthful of ripe, rich blackberry and chokecherry core leads to a velvety mouth-feel of raspberry flavors. Ripe and complex, this Michigan red has a nice sense of depth and proportion, picking up brambleberry, boysenberry, and chocolate notes, finishing with soft tannins.
Michigan White Wines
St. Julian Riesling - The award winning ST. J Riesling features an intense mouthful of juicy peaches centered around a core of mineral-scented, Honeycrisp apples and mango flavors. Its style, harmony and amazing grace are balanced with its razor-sharp acidity. An utterly seamless, world-class wine.
Greek Beer
Mythos - Produced from selected varieties of barley and hops, it is a Lager with a rich head, bright blonde color and a pleasant, refreshing taste - a guarantee of enjoyment for those who choose to drink it.
Michigan Beer
Founders Pale Ale - A testament to Cascade hops in a bottle, this medium-bodied pale ale has a refreshing citrus flavor and a distinctive floral hop aroma due to the aggressive addition of hops during fermentation. You'll notice a slight malty sweetness with a balanced hop finish. Perfect to enjoy anytime, anywhere.
Frozen Cocktail
The Frouzo! - Holy Trinity's very own special libation, concocted and served only one time per year! This delicious frozen specialty features the Greek spirit, ouzo, mixed with a number of other sweet and tart igredients, then frozen! An absolute must try!
